Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is a laying-on of hands natural healing technique thought to be thousands of years old. Originating in Tibet, it was rediscovered in Japan in the late 1800’s by Dr. Mikao Usui. It is very simple yet powerful healing art that can be used on your self as well as others and can easily be learned by anyone. Practitioners channel universal life force in a particular pattern to bring forth healing and harmony.

The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words – “rei,” meaning “Universal Spirit, God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power,” and “ki,“ meaning “life force energy.” The word Reiki, therefore, refers to a balanced cosmic and life force energy. Because of its qualities of universal energy, it seems to have a basic consciousness which, when used for healing, is able to provide exactly what is needed on all levels. Reiki treatments work by dissolving or eliminating toxic energy and substances from many levels of ones being whether it be physical, emotional, mental or beyond. Reiki helps to create a harmonious environment within one’s being so true healing can take place.

Anyone can use Reiki to strengthen well-being, and it can be especially useful for people with pain, anxiety, insomnia, depression, fatigue syndromes or other chronic illness, or those undergoing surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or treatment for addictions. Reiki is also useful in first aid.

Reiki therapy is safe and non-invasive. It is being used to facilitate relaxation and recovery, decrease anxiety and treat pain in hospices, nursing homes, emergency rooms, operating rooms, organ transplantation care units, pediatric, neonatal and OB/GYN units. Shelters (animal & human) are also places where Reiki is being used to benefit those being sheltered as well as staff who are there to assist.

Reiki can be used to help improve the whole family’s experience through pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum. It has been shown to be useful in dealing with pain, including labor pains during delivery, can reduce stress and anxiety post-partum, and provides partners a tool to participate more fully through providing care for mom and baby.

What is Distance Reiki?

Distance Reiki treatments is just like in-person treatments and are just as effective, allowing clients to receiving healing from afar. Distance Reiki healing is for clients who are unable to come for in-person sessions or choose to have a session from the comfort of their home.

Distance Reiki works according to the Hermetic Law of Similarity, which holds that we are all connected, as we are all energy matter and part of a larger whole. As such, invoking this law during a distance Reiki session allows the practitioner to link an object to the energy field of the recipient.

What does a Distance Reiki treatment feel like?

Just as an in person session, clients will sometimes notice physical sensations during the Distance Reiki session,—warmth, tingling, or a sense of relaxation or peacefulness, for example. You might also notice the mind calming down or the alleviation of physical symptoms.
